Adrian Parkes joined the GTMC as its chief executive officer in September 2017 following over 15 years in senior leadership roles in the travel and business travel sectors. Parkes was most recently chief commercial director at Travel Management Company (TMC) Portman Travel Limited. His experience also spans the airline sector where Parkes was vice president, global sales for Etihad Airways for three years and held various senior roles at bmi for 11 years rising to commercial director.
During his tenure at Portman, Parkes was part of the senior leadership team that worked on the integration and merge of the business with Clarity Travel Management when Portman was acquired by the Mawasem Travel Group in late 2016.
Prior to working in the travel industry, Parkes held sales and distribution roles at Golden Wonder managing field sales teams and third party distribution via leading retail chains.
At the GTMC Parkes leads the organisation's charge to highlight the value of the business travel sector to the overall UK economy and is passionate about championing the service, expertise and support that the TMC community offers clients.
A lifelong Sheffield United supporter, Parkes divides his time between London and his family in Derbyshire. Parkes is married with two sons and two grandsons.
